Energy Shield Access Covers
The "Energy Shield I" is an attic access cover
for disappearing stairways and uses polyethylene foam sandwiched between two
layers of aluminum foil. This combination of materials produces an
effective R-value of 14.5. The Energy Shield I is mounted to the inside
framework rough opening in the ceiling, slightly above the disappearing stairway
frame. It is manufactured to fit between the ceiling trusses and has a
zippered access which to the side or back when it is opened. The front
entrance has complete access to the opening without trip hazards. The
front entrance cover opening is below the top of the ceiling truss opening.
The "Energy Shield II" is manufactured for
knee-wall doors. The effective R-value is 8.5 because of its vertical
position. The standard size offered is a 2' x 4' unit. However,
customer sizes are also available.
The "Energy Shield III" is identical to the
Energy Shield II line of products with the exception that the unit is smaller in
size to fit hatch hinged openings and has the same effective R-value of 14.5 in
the horizontal position.
Additionally, a 3 ounce squeeze tube of
silicone caulking is required for installation.
