How do I locate my ceiling studs?
If using an electronic stud sensor, follow the directions located on the back of the stud finder. If not, look on the ceiling to identify any visible nailing patterns or drywall tape patterns. These will generally indicate the direction of the ceiling studs. If none are visible, drive a small nail (at least two inches long) 1 1/2" into the ceiling. If the nail can be pushed in the rest of the way by hand, you have not hit a stud and need to continue to do this step until you locate a stud.
Once you have located a stud using the same method, move the nail over to the right a 1/4" and drive it in 1 1/2". Repeat this step until you locate the right edge of the stud. Repeat this step moving to the left this time to determine the left edge of the ceiling stud.

What do I do if I have Metal Studs in my ceiling?
The majority of houses are built with ceiling joists made of wood, however we do offer an installation kit for those with metal studs.

What do I do if I have any missing or damaged parts?

How much weight can Hyloft unit hold?
Each HyLoft 45x45 Unit is warranted to hold a maximum of 250 lbs. The HyLoft JR 3x3 is warranted to hold a maximum of 150 lbs. Each of the HyLoft Shelves is warranted to hold a maximum of 150 lbs. Weight must be distributed evenly.


How many HyLoft units can I install in my garage?
In order to adequately disperse the stored load, you should install not more than two HyLoft units on any two ceiling beams (rafters, studs, roof trusses, etc.). Click here to view recommended configuration for multiple units


How much storage volume does my HyLoft 45x45 Unit provide?
At the minimum height adjustment of 16 inches, your storage volume is 20 cubic feet. Every two inches of additional down rod adjustments equals 2 1/2 cubic feet of storage space with a maximum of 60 cubic feet at 28 inches.
