There are a number of unique features with this desk lamp. First, it is energy efficient. The lamp uses a 27 watt linear compact fluorescent bulb that is roughly equivalent in light output to a 100-125 watt incandescent bulb. Finally, the color temperature of the bulb is 5000 degrees Kelvin, which will deliver a much whiter light than most incandescent and compact fluorescent bulbs produce. The manufacturer believes that a whiter light increases contrast and clarity, which in turn may reduce eyestrain. The ballast used in this desk lamp is electronic, which means there will be no initial flickering of the bulb that is common with many magnetically ballasted lamps. The lamp is a neutral putty color with a gray neck. The orientation of the head can be adjusted by repositioning the gooseneck arm. A matching floor lamp is also available.

Because the color temperature of the lamp used in these
fixtures is 5500 degrees Kelvin, the fixture will provide a much whiter light
than that offered by incandescent bulbs and many other compact fluorescents. A
whiter light may be able to increase contrast and clarity on reading materials,
which may, in turn, reduce eyestrain. The ballast used in the lamps is
electronic, so there will be none of the flickering that is common with many
magnetically ballasted lamps. The orientation of the head can be adjusted by
repositioning the gooseneck arm. Two colors are available, ivory and graphite.
