Model SFT-1200: Requires at least 1.01 sq. feet of net free venting

Please make sure adequate make-up air  is supplied when running any exhaust fan.  The potential for back drafting can occur with these type exhaust fans.  That means devices such as gas water heaters and gas furnaces in the same rooms as these exhaust fans,  where there is no source of make-up air will pull air from the path of least resistance.  This could include, your water heater vent pipe, furnace vent pipe, etc.  The potential exists that gas from these appliances could also be pulled into the area you are exhausting.

Shutter style fans have aluminum blades, rugged PVC shutters and powder coated guard. Variable speed when used with speed controls not included with fan model. Fan performances at .05 static pressure. Made in the USA.

Question: does this come with an onoff switch or does this need the $200 control?
Answer: You can wire this fan to any type of controller (on/off, Variable speed, timer, etc), it does not need the $200 control.
Question: Can this be used on an exterior wall? I am looking for a ductless fan that I can mount on the exterior wall of my bathroom that does not require ductwork. If this cant be used for that purpose do you have any exhaust fans that could be used for that purpose?
Answer: This unit is not manufactured for bathroom exhaust. You may want to consider Panasonic FV 08WQ1
Question: Can this fan be used in a window to pull the hot air out of the house? I am in need of a fan that may operate like the Attic fans (to pull the hot air out from a upstairs floor) I have insulation in my attic therefor the whole house attic fan may not work in the attic I do not need the insulation pulled out.
Answer: This unit is a through the wall fan not a window fan. You may want to consider 20 Inch Whole House Window Fan. Furthermore, the whole house fans that we sell do not disturb blown in insulation.
Question: I am wanting to put this in my two car garage. Can I put a thermostat on it? Thanks
Answer: Yes, you can use a thermostat with the 12 inch shutter fan.
Question: Can this be mounted in the garage ceiling?
Answer: No, the 12 inch shutter fan should be mounted through the wall. It would not be recommended to mount this fan in the ceiling.
Question: Can this be mounted in the wall of a workshop to assist in exhausting dust? Thanks
Answer: Yes.
