Product Note #1:  The pump you are getting from us is labeled as Watts Premiere, who contracted with Grundfos Pump manufacturing company to make this specific model for them.  So you are in essence getting a Grundfos hot water circulation pump kit, made by Grundfos.  So what you may be thinking?  Here's the dealio, Grundfos changed the color of this pump to blue, to differentiate between their pumps which are normally red in color.  The red Grundfos hot water recirculation pumps are sold through a different distribution method (to licensed plumbers, and tradespersons, etc), the retail costs of the red Grundfos pumps are significantly higher!  How do we know this?  We used to sell the original red Grundfos pumps and at a much higher price!  Rest assured, the pump you are getting from us though is physically manufactured by the Grundfos Pump company, so you know you will be getting the quality associated Grundfos.

Product Note #2:  How reliable are these systems?  The systems are very reliable.  The only customer issues which we have experienced, has been the failure of the comfort valves.  This happens in a very small percentage (well under 1%) of systems, and only after an extended period of use (years).  The comfort valves carry a 12 month warranty, and if outside of the warranty period are available for about $45 each.

Product Note #3: This system requires installation onto your existing hot water heater, and an electrical outlet is needed nearby to plug the pump into.  If you are all handy around the home, installation is quite simple.  However, if you need to hire a professional (like a plumber, handyman, etc), we recommend getting quotes from several licensed professionals.  We had one customer tell us how she was charged $300 for installation of this system which in my opinion is way too much!  Bottom  line, is we don't want to see you getting ripped off - so if you are to to hire a professional do your homework please!

Question: I have a tankless water heater will this work in my system?
Answer: Yes, it may depending on the model of your tankless water heater, as well as a few other factors. Please contact us for a further explanation.
Question: What is a hot water branch?
Answer: Hot water lines may branch off from your main hot water line, like to a bathroom, where it will supply hot water to a sink and bathtub.
Question: What If I have multiple hot water branches?
Answer: You will need to get an extra comfort valve for every extra branch that you have.

Question: If you send the hot water back through the cold water pipes to the water heater wouldnt you waste hot water when trying to get cold water?
Answer: You lose a little bit because the "cooled off" hot water dumped into the cold water line heats the cold water a little bit. This is only important if you are drawing a glass of cold water. More than 99 percent of the cold water is used for other purposes, such as cooking, cleaning, washing the car and toilet flushing. The slightly warm "cold" water is perfectly fine for all these purposes.
Question: Does this system heat my hot water?
Answer: No, it is a hot water recirculator, it is a retro-fit to an existing water heater.
Question: Will this work with electric and gas water heaters?
Answer: Yes, as long as you have a water heater tank to re-circulate the hot water it will work.
Question: How does it work?
Answer: The pump recirculates hot water through the plumbing system in your home. When the water temp at the comfort valve hits a pre-determined temperature it closes. When you turn your sink/shower on, the hot water is at the valve and travels out of the fixture (remember the valve was installed at the farthest end of the plumbing run under a sink) - all fixtures/shower in that run will have the hot water available, instantly. No more waiting for hot water.
Question: How will this save me money?
Answer: Calculate how many thousands of gallons of water you use while waiting for hot water each year. Money will be saved as the wait for hot water will finally be over. Moreover, you are conserving water and adding a great "creature comfort", instant hot water to every faucet/shower in your entire home.
Question: Is the timer so I could shut off the water flow on dayone at 8pm and restart it on day two at 7am then shut it off at 9am and restart it at 4pm and again have it shut of at 8pm. Then continue the cycle?
Answer: Yes, the pump can be set to turn on/off in any given 24 hour period with a minimum run time of fifteen minutes periods.
Question: Yes With the Comfort Valve installed ad the hot water returning through the cold water line what effect does this have in drawing cold water for drinking at the farthest point faucet?
Answer: The water from the cold water line is while the pump is running is typically lukewarm.
Question: not sure why the need for a timer. We all shower at different times in our house.
Answer: The timer function gives the user more control as to on/off times of the pump. It is perfectly okay to leave the pump on 24/7.
Question: If I have multiple water heaters hooked together. One water heater heats the water and then its dumped into another water heater. Would this work with that system and if so should i hook the recirculation pump onto the 2nd water heater?
Answer: Yes, you should install the pump on the second water heater.
Question: Why wont it work on a tankless water heater? A friend of mine has a tankless and also has this device and says its wonderful.
Answer: The system may work with some tankless water heaters. However their are certain requirements that must be met. Please call us direct for a more detailed explanation.
Question: So whenever the timer is ON the pump is running and trying to pump even if the comfort valves are all off? Seems like the comfort valves should send an electrical signal back to the pump when they are ON so that the pump only tries to pump when a valve is open..
Answer: When the timer function is used, the hot water is pumped to the valve. The valve closes when the temperature reaches 90-110 degrees. When the valve senses drop in temperature it opens again. Due to very minimal back pressure, this pump is manufactured to run continues or on a timer.
Question: What is the measurement from valve end to valve end - want to make sure this will fit without touching the exhaust duct from my water heater.
Answer: The Valve is 4.5 inches.
Question: what is the pressure coming out of the recirculating pump? Can the existing house plumbing handle this?
Answer: The maximum working pressure on the Instant Hot water system is 145 PSI. Yes, this pump will work with your existing plumbing.
Question: My solar heater often get between 160 and 180. Will this pump handle this temperature?
Answer: The Instant Hot water system has a maximum fluid temperature of 150 degrees.
Question: Is the pump made of iron or brass?
Answer: The pump is made of steel.
Question: We cant get our water to cool down....do we need a new comfort valve? Or what else could be the problem
Answer: Yes, the comfort valve needs to be replaced.
Question: I have the system but I cant find the part that goes under the sink. Do you sell that part separately? Thank you.
Answer: Yes, the Grundfos Comfort Valve can be purchased separately.
Question: How do you determine how many hot water branches exist in your home?
Answer: If you still have a copy of your homeís plans, you should be able to see how the plumbing runs were designed for your home. A more practical solution if the plans are not available, is to install the comfort valve included with the pump at the furthest sink from the hot water heater. If other locations in your homeís plumbing are not getting the hot water fairly quickly, installing a second, or even in some cases a third comfort valve under other sinks furthest away from the hot water heater should resolve the issue.
Question: Can I still get a glass of cold water or will it be slightly warm? What are the consequences of recirculating hot water through the cold water line?
Answer: The only consequences for using the pump is your glass of water will be slightly warmer then it would have been.
Question: Does the pump operate continuously when the water is not hot at the Comfort valve or only when you turn on the hot water faucet? Meaning will the pump be running all nightday when not hot or only when you need it and turn on the hot water faucets?
Answer: The pump will only circulate the water when needed. The hot water is pumped to the valve. The valve closes when the temperature reaches 90-110 degrees. When the valve senses drop in temperature it opens again. So when you turn on the faucet the water will be hot.
Question: I have a water softener. How does this system work when my system is regenerating?
Answer: The Instant Hot Water System circulates the water from your hot water tank. The water softener should be installed on the cold water supply line only and hot water should not be entering the water softener at any time. Hot water will cause damage to the water softener.
Question: How do I know if I have multiple branches in my house?
Answer: The best way to determine if you have multiple branches is to install the pump at the hot water tank and the included valve under the sink at the furthest location. Then if you have another location in the home that does not get instant hot water you know you need a valve under that sink.
Question: Will this work in a two story house where the comfort valve will be located on the second floor?
Answer: Yes.
Question: Can I turn the pump off for weeks at a time while I am away from home or on vacation?
Answer: Yes.
Question: Any issues with single handle faucets? That is all I have in the entire house.
Answer: No issues.
Question: My home has PVC for the cold water will this work okay for me??
Answer: Yes.
Question: Is the pump housing supposed to run hot?
Answer: Yes.
Question: Can I leave the pump running 24-7?
Answer: Yes.
Question: Is the timer located at the water heater installation area or at the individual valves (so that it can be set different times at each control valve).
Answer: The timer is located on the pump.
Question: What if I have a water softener? Anything special to do on the installation?
Answer: The Instant Hot Water system will work with a water softener without any issues. Install would be no different.
Question: What is inside the pump to make the water flow ? Also what is the material it is made out of ?
Answer: There is a turbine in the pump. Itís a centrifugal pump and only boosts up the pressure by 1 or 2 psi. The housing of the pump is stainless steel except for the nut at the bottom, that is bronze.
Question: I have a reverse osmosis system under my kitchen sink and I read from one review that hot water will be pushed into the RO system. Is this true?
Answer: Yes, this can cause a problem. If the sensor valve and RO system is installed on the same cold water supply, the hot water will be pushed over to the RO system, this is not recommended and water over 100F can damage the RO membrane.
