Answer: You lose a little bit because the "cooled off" hot water dumped into the cold water line heats the cold water a little bit. This is only important if you are drawing a glass of cold water. More than 99 percent of the cold water is used for other purposes, such as cooking, cleaning, washing the car and toilet flushing. The slightly warm "cold" water is perfectly fine for all these purposes.
Question: Does this system heat my hot water?
Answer: No, it is a hot water recirculator, it is a retro-fit to an existing water heater.
Question: Will this work with electric and gas water heaters?
Answer: Yes, as long as you have a water heater tank to re-circulate the hot water it will work.
Question: How does it work?
Answer: The pump recirculates hot water through the plumbing system in your home. When the water temp at the comfort valve hits a pre-determined temperature it closes. When you turn your sink/shower on, the hot water is at the valve and travels out of the fixture (remember the valve was installed at the farthest end of the plumbing run under a sink) - all fixtures/shower in that run will have the hot water available, instantly. No more waiting for hot water.

Answer: The timer function gives the user more control as to on/off times of the pump. It is perfectly okay to leave the pump on 24/7.
Question: If I have multiple water heaters hooked together. One water heater heats the water and then its dumped into another water heater. Would this work with that system and if so should i hook the recirculation pump onto the 2nd water heater?
Answer: Yes, you should install the pump on the second water heater.
Question: Why wont it work on a tankless water heater? A friend of mine has a tankless and also has this device and says its wonderful.
Answer: The system may work with some tankless water heaters. However their are certain requirements that must be met. Please call us direct for a more detailed explanation.
Question: So whenever the timer is ON the pump is running and trying to pump even if the comfort valves are all off? Seems like the comfort valves should send an electrical signal back to the pump when they are ON so that the pump only tries to pump when a valve is open..
Answer: When the timer function is used, the hot water is pumped to the valve. The valve closes when the temperature reaches 90-110 degrees. When the valve senses drop in temperature it opens again. Due to very minimal back pressure, this pump is manufactured to run continues or on a timer.
Question: What is the measurement from valve end to valve end - want to make sure this will fit without touching the exhaust duct from my water heater.

Question: How do you determine how many hot water branches exist in your home?
Answer: If you still have a copy of your home’s plans, you should be able to see how the plumbing runs were designed for your home. A more practical solution if the plans are not available, is to install the comfort valve included with the pump at the furthest sink from the hot water heater. If other locations in your home’s plumbing are not getting the hot water fairly quickly, installing a second, or even in some cases a third comfort valve under other sinks furthest away from the hot water heater should resolve the issue.
Question: Can I still get a glass of cold water or will it be slightly warm? What are the consequences of recirculating hot water through the cold water line?
Answer: The only consequences for using the pump is your glass of water will be slightly warmer then it would have been.
Question: Does the pump operate continuously when the water is not hot at the Comfort valve or only when you turn on the hot water faucet? Meaning will the pump be running all nightday when not hot or only when you need it and turn on the hot water faucets?
Answer: The pump will only circulate the water when needed. The hot water is pumped to the valve. The valve closes when the temperature reaches 90-110 degrees. When the valve senses drop in temperature it opens again. So when you turn on the faucet the water will be hot.
Question: I have a water softener. How does this system work when my system is regenerating?
Answer: The Instant Hot Water System circulates the water from your hot water tank. The water softener should be installed on the cold water supply line only and hot water should not be entering the water softener at any time. Hot water will cause damage to the water softener.
Question: How do I know if I have multiple branches in my house?
Answer: The best way to determine if you have multiple branches is to install the pump at the hot water tank and the included valve under the sink at the furthest location. Then if you have another location in the home that does not get instant hot water you know you need a valve under that sink.
