Keep Walkways Clear of Ice
If you're a homeowner, keeping your home's
walkways, paths, and steps clear from ice and snow ensures safe passage for your
loved ones. As an employer, keeping clear sidewalks is essential for avoiding
costly falls for both your employees and customers alike. Whether on your home
or place of business, one of the best ways to keep your walkways clear of ice is
through the use of ice melting products.
A liquid ice melter is not only safe and biodegradable, but melts ice and snow
at lower temperatures than salt. By applying a snow melter in the form of a
liquid ice melter prior to a snow or ice storm, a non-stick surface is created,
which inhibits snow and ice from sticking. In fact, liquid ice melter products
can stop one to two inches of snow or ice before accumulating on the pavement,
which is great for that nuisance snow many cities and towns tend to get during
the winter. Many snow ice products last for up to 14 days, which is helpful if
several consecutive storms are expected.
Liquid ice melters can be used before a winter storm to prevent ice and snow
from sticking, during a storm to remove up to two inches (and sometimes three
inches of snow), and after a storm to melt residual areas of snow or ice.
A significant advantage of ice melting products is that they are not harmful to
your pets or plants -- unlike rock salt. It's also safe on all surfaces,
including roofs where ice dams may have occurred. The non-corrosive formula
ensures cars, equipment or any steel or aluminum item won't rust or corrode as a
result of the ice melter.
